Build for Hiawatha, Iowa

Among the list of requested features was the Hiawatha Event Calendar – a calendar of events that would be visible to the public and which would allow administrators from each department to add events tied to their respective departments.

Users are able to filter the events shown on the calendar by department and start and end dates, as well as change the display of the calendar. They can also click on individual events to see full pages with more information.

The calendar also pulls “double-duty” for the Facility Rental feature for Hiawatha’s Parks & Rec Department. When a facility is selected, the calendar displays dates and times the the currently chosen facility is already booked.

The user is unable to make a reservation if there is a conflict with a current reservation and the date the user has chosen.

Once a reservation is completed – that time slot is added to the calendar – preventing future users from double-booking.
